About Me and My Art
I’ve loved miniatures for as long as I can remember. When I was little I used to play with Polly Pocket compacts, which were small dollhouses that would fit in the palm of your hand! I’ve always loved working small. I first began drawing, constantly preferring to take up as little space on a piece of paper as possible.
At Lyme Academy I first began making my own miniatures for an assignment. The assignment was to make a piece made with recyclable scraps. I reused all sorts of materials for the miniature. Since then I have always continued making different sorts of miniatures. Some with a specific setting, sometimes telling a story and sometimes just your everyday individual tiny objects. Throughout the years I have incorporated other materials besides just recycled materials, but my true love will always still be using discarded materials and converting them into art.
My paintings are made with oil and gouache paints. I enjoy painting people and still life paintings the most. Till this day I continue to love working very small, even for paintings as well. My family and friends have joked that I might eventually need a magnifying glass to continue my small work in the future. But no matter what, I loved creating small works that retain their details no matter the size. I personally find comfort in working in such tiny sizes for a couple of reasons, mainly because it is better for the environment by being more eco-friendly and by still being able to create new art.
